Monday, January 13th 


Circle Time: Calendar, Weather, and Star of the Week

Letter:  The Letter s are Lost by Lisa Campbell Ernst

Bible: Talk about our Bible theme and how God loves everyone.  Play, “God loves who?” name game; 

Theme:  What is a community helper?  Talk about what a community helper is and make a list of community helpers.  A police officer is a community helper.  Read, Officer Buckle and Gloria by Peggy Rathmann.  Play, “Officer Buckle can you help me find my friend?”  Have a child hide in the classroom.  Give the officer clues as to who is missing and see if the officer can find the missing friend.

Math:  who’s missing – memory game (see circle time); connecting people 

Science:  animal exploration 

Art/Fine Motor:  Mid-year self-portraits

Language/Literacy:  Tomorrow’s Alphabet by George Shannon

Large Motor:  Animal Action 

Extra Activities:  Hickity Pickity Bumble Bee

Bible: Read, God Loves You by Kathleen Long Bostrom;

Theme:  This week we are talking about Community Helpers! Review what a community helper is.  Read, The Jolly Postman;

Math: Community Helper Mystery Game  

Science:  Insects and magnifying glasses;

Art/Fine Motor: Mail Bags

Language/Literacy:  Alphabet Rescue by Audrey Wood and Bruce Wood

Large Motor:  Captain on Board

Extra Activities:  Alphabet around the world;

Circle Time: Calendar, Weather, and Star of the Week

Letter:  Review:  A-N  

Bible: Read, “God is Loving” pg. 32 from I Can Learn About God;

Theme: Read, Jobs People Do by Christopher Maynard; Firefighters are community helpers.  Talk about an important job that we need someone to do now that it is Winter and snowing a lot!!  Read, Katie and the Snow Plow; 

Math: Steps to a snowman – sequencing cards

Science:  Snow in the sensory table; 

Art/Fine Motor:  snow plows

Language/Literacy:  My Name is … A by Alice Lyne; I Know Why I Brush My Teeth by Kate Rowan

Large Motor:  Singing and Dancing with Jim Gill “Teeth are for brushing” 

Extra Activities:  Visit from Mrs. Fleisher to talk with the kids about her occupation! (AM Class) Visit from Mrs. Williams to teach talk about what a nurse does!  (PM Class)


Thursday, January 16th 


Circle Time: Calendar, Weather, and Star of the Week

Letter: Read, The Alphabet Tree by Leo Lionni.  Have show n tell with the letters A-N.

Bible:  This week we have been learning about how much God loves us.  God loves us so much and is always with us.  Read, “God is With You” pg 184 I Can Learn About God; 

Theme: Read, The Lion who Wouldn't Brush his Teeth; Who did the Lion have to go see?  What did Mr. Hippo the dentist do to help the Lion?  Why is it important for us to go see the dentist? 

Math:  Counting Teeth

Science:  Digging for Dinos – Use toothbrushes to dust off the sand and once they find their dinos!

Art/Fine Motor:  Hippos

Language/Literacy:  Letter Factory; Martin Luther King, Jr. by Marion Dane Bauer

Large Motor:  Captain on Board

Extra Activities: Letter Factory;
